Micha Cárdenas is an MFA candidate at the University of California San Diego and an MA candidate in Media and Communications at the European Graduate School and holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Florida International University. She is a researcher at CalIT2 and CRCA. Her interests include the interplay of technology, gender, sex, desire and biopolitics. Micha is a transgender, genderqueer performance artist, political organizer and trouble maker. Micha is a founding member of a number of art/activism collectives including Sharing Is Sexy, the borderlands Hacklab and the City Heights Free Skool. Micha has collaborated with faculty members Ricardo Dominguez on the Transborder Immigrant Tool and the B.A.N.G. lab, and Adriene Jenik on specFlic 1.0.
faffs the jackal - faffs is a (sexual) undergrad at ucsd in the ethnic studies department and an intern at the ucsd women's center. He came to ucsd a chemistry major with subcutaneous artivist tendencies but suffered/enjoyed an emotional breakdown/breakthrough in the process of 'learning' corporate science culture. He has since reverted/advanced to the study of us and how we are going to get free. He has worked on know your rights comic books, community radio, music, and probabally some other stuff i (oops, i mean "he") can't think of right now. He is also a terrible speller, "probabally" for example. If it weren't for computers, everything i write would read like that.
Ms. Jade Lantana - Brought to UCSD after a long stint at community college, a brief stay in fashion design school and the desperate desire to stay as far away from Oxnard, CA as possible, Ms. Jade Lantana is now slowly wasting what is left of her youth slinging coffee and working for the man (e.g. UCSD). When she isn't trapped on campus or at work, she enjoys complaining about aforementioned work, starting trouble, getting tattoos and spending quality time with her attention whoring Siamese cat, Bodhisattva. She plans to continue her education after she graduates next spring in an MFA program somewhere...anywhere. She then plans on becoming some big-deal important artist character and then teach at university (it is the middle step that has her a tad worried). Also, she is not skilled nor does she enjoy writing about herself.
Miss Angelica Tolentino - Angelica is a local San Diego person. She was born here, grew up in Japan, moved to New York for a little, and is back to finish school. She is a 4th year UCSD student who just recently changed her major to Ethnic Studies. Right now her life consists of work, school, and breaking. She works at the Center for Community Solutions as a crisis counselor for the domestic violence/sexual assault hotline. She became interested in Tijuana Borderland issues through being a local San Diegan, taking Vis111, and visiting an orphanage in TJ. She's also into bringing art to the peepo, graffiti, and HIP HOP and how all that comes together. Besides school and work, she breaks and rocks every night. the end.
Ms. Adelina- Adelina likes to consider herself a open, fluid, down-to earth, hard to handle bitch! Now don't get hung up on the words too much, for with each word comes the empowering humbling energy that the goddess within her continues to embrace. In every aspect of Adelina's life whether she likes it or not she is learning, reminded and inspired. Adelina would like to take a moment to make a shout out to Vis 198 which is challenging her to grow and become even more herself-as CrAzY beautiful as her life.
