Things to cover:

  • structure of class as a research group - horizontal, co-learning, sharing facilitation tasks, copying tasks
  • not using the banking model of education, not privileging the mind over the body
  • discussion guidelines, based in feminist, anti-racist practice: step up, step back; avoiding interrupting; raise your hand to add something to the discussion; listening, not being dismissive
  • reading closely, project assignments and presentations in vis 40 and at calit2
  • general concept of class, looking at collective practice, online public space, challenging power, deepening our understanding of these ideas
  • thinking critically about education, problematizing the apparatus, exposing the conditions of possibility and how they shape our ideas and our experiences
