Lecture Notes Week 1
From borderlandsHacklabWiki
Things to cover:
- structure of class as a research group - horizontal, co-learning, sharing facilitation tasks, copying tasks
- not using the banking model of education, not privileging the mind over the body
- discussion guidelines, based in feminist, anti-racist practice: step up, step back; avoiding interrupting; raise your hand to add something to the discussion; listening, not being dismissive
- "Everyone is an Expert" - noborder.org
- reading closely, project assignments and presentations in vis 40 and at calit2
- general concept of class, looking at collective practice, online public space, challenging power, deepening our understanding of these ideas
- thinking critically about education, problematizing the apparatus, exposing the conditions of possibility and how they shape our ideas and our experiences
- announce Synthetic Performances on April 4th:
